Pegasus Therapy is pleased to announce our sixth year of Summer Therapeutic Group! Ms. Amy Seymore, occupational therapist, will be back as head of camp with special guest Ms Audrey Awa, COTA, the week of August 1-5 and other special guests to be announced.
Location: 3500 Franconia Road Alexandria, VA 22310
Our traditional camp Ready Bodies, Learning Minds is back in our preferred 30 hours/ week format this summer. Parents will receive a report at the end of the week reviewing strengths and weaknesses and suggestions to build skills over the rest of summer. This camp is best suited for rising Kindergarten through 2nd graders (June 24-28) or mixed grade K-5th graders (July 1-5). Participants will leave each week with a smile as well as a new foundation for core strength and endurance, self regulation, social problem solving, executive functioning skills, and mindfulness techniques. We will review (or teach) Zones of Regulation and utilize Social Thinking language to build social and self regulation skills.
We have a very limited number of counselor in training (CIT) positions open to students 7th grade and up for these two weeks of camp. CIT's will always be under direct adult supervision. Students will be expected to interview and fulfill the requirements of the job, but will receive more guidance and job training than a traditional first job. CIT's will meet with an adult at the end of each day and will receive black and white advice and mentorship to support an understanding of what a job might be like. This is an excellent first step towards employment, and CIT's can receive a letter of recommendation or list us as a reference after a successful week (30 hours). Due to the level of adult involvement and support a CIT position will cost $250 for the week.

FAQ:
How do I register?
Please email [email protected] with your camper application form.
Who is on the staff?
All participants will interact with Amy, a registered and licensed occupational therapist. Exceptional college interns interested in attending occupational therapy school may be accepted to assist staff.
Is this therapy?
Participants are in a therapeutic environment, with careful scaffolding to build independence but the ratio will not be 1:1 and this is not intended as a replacement for ongoing occupational therapy or counseling. At the end of your child's time at group our occupational therapist and counselor can help guide you to decide if further individualized intervention is necessary.
What if my child is outside the age range listed?
Please email Amy to discuss if your child is developmentally appropriate for this group. If there is strong interest for ages outside the range listed we will make every effort to get staff to support their participation.
